FLOORING IDEAS-

Hardwood Floors

Everyone loves wood floors. They are warm and inviting and give your home a traditional feel. In my opinion they look nicer and are easier to keep clean than carpet. Solid wood floors are however difficult to install and not something you want to try on your own. They are also susceptible to moisture.

Engineered wood flooring combines a slim slice of real wood fused to a plywood below. The top is already finished - no sanding or sealing required. As soon as the floor is installed, you can walk on it! And, as opposed to a laminate flooring, you can sand out scratches. However, due to the thinness of the wood layer, you can not sand too many times. Another advantage is its ability to hold up in ligh moisture areas. While installing it in ability child's bathroom that floods frequently is probably not ideal, it should hold up pretty well in a well ventillated adult bathroom.

Laminate floor

Laminate is an amazing wood floor product. It looks like wood and is easy to clean and maintain. Laminate flooring utilizes a photograph of wood grain underneath a very hard transparent synthetic material to protect it. It is hard to tell the difference from real wood. A great option if care and maintenance is a high priority.

Bamboo Floors

Bamboo floors can offer superior sustainability and look just as good if not better then other hardwoods. However, it can be a complex purchase due to the many variables and varieties available. I recommend a qualified installer who is familiar with bamboo flooring and can ensure the best quality purchase.

Travertine floor

Travertine is a beautiful stone available in many colors that is between limestone and marble. Limestone left under pressure becomes Travertine and Travertine left under pressure becomes Marble. Because it is porous, it is best to get the stone polished and sealed to protect if from acids that might stain it.

Porcelain Tile Floors

If durability is your priority, you can not go wrong with porcelain tiles; a flooring used by royalty throughout history. The very high hardness rating is achieved through kiln firing the materials such as china stone at very high temperatures. This beautiful flooring is not only durable and stands up to high foot traffic; it is highly resistant to moisture.

Slate Tile Floors

One of my favorite flooring options for not only its beauty but for its versatility is slate floors. It is a durable stone that offers a naturally slip resistant surface. That makes it great for the kitchen, bathroom, hallway, and most importantly for patios and pool decks outdoors. The highly decorative non-slip surface would also be appreciated by public and commercial property. Split-face slate tile, tile that has been "split" from the slate bed providing an uneven textured surface, is one of the most popular choices.

Marble Floors

When you want the very best, you get marble floors. Because marble is a natural product, it is stain resistant. However, marble is porous and certain marbles can stain easily. Because of this, professional installers recommend applying a neutral pH breathable sealer. The sealer will also need to be reapplied on a regular basis.
